Parents,

The children are enjoying reading groups and centers, math centers were added to our day last week.  We have been working on the proper formation of our numbers and attributes of shapes.

In Language Arts we have introduced /i/ and /u/ and are recognizing spacing between words, letter formation, sentence structure, beginning sounds and syllables.

It is great to see all the time the children are spending on Reading A-Z.  Once a student hits the one hour mark they get acknowledged and rewarded with a sticker.  Studies have shown the link between exposure to language and text significantly increases students success in reading and writing.

Thank you to all the parents who ordered from Scholastic last month.  The classroom earned lots of points for free books as well as a new book for each student in the class.  A new Scholastic order form went home today.  To access Scholastic use the form that went home or the links section on the blog.

Mr. K has asked that students start using smocks in November.  If you send a smock with your child's name on it, I will keep it in the classroom.

Have a great day!
Mrs. Mahoney
